LEARNING IS DIFFERENT HERE

From the outside looking in, our new SMART Lab at SPCCS makes learning can look more like play than learning. But here students come into the lab and learn about robots, circuits, coding, animation, weather, broadcasting, 3D design and more. In this facilitated classroom, students become creative risk-takers, problem solvers, collaborative leaders in project based learning, engaged, and career ready, all while having fun.

The computer lab began at SPCCS in 2014 with a generous donation from the Daughters of Charity bringing all the needed equipment to set up a classroom that would introduce our students to computer-based learning and exploration.

Almost 10 years later, and using funding from the Emergency Assistance for Non-Public Schools, (made available to us to help address COVID-19 related learning loss), our computer lab has been transformed into a powerful project-based learning-center STEM facility.

Students love their time in the SMART Lab. They particularly like the broadcast studio, robotics, coding and 3D printing. Our Middle School robotics club meets there weekly after school under the careful instruction of our STEM Partners, STARBASE Robins.

21st century learning is truly here at SPCCS where we combine the best of the past and today to prepare our students for the future.
